"Died, May 16th, 1878, at her residence, in Lee county, Va., Mrs. POLLY BISHOP, relict of Elder James Bishop, in the 75th year of her age. Sister Bishop was for many years a Christian, and said she was ready to die. No wonder; for her last act as a member of Thompson's Settlement church, in a plain case of conscience, showed that she would "obey God rather than men," and that she loved her Master more than her nearest relations Alas! how man nominal Christians fail to stand this test of real discipleship!
