kevin- compared to the current iphone/ipod touch competition, ancestry's iphone app may still not be that bad. famviewer and gedview are the only other main choices. families (legacy family tree) has issues with syncing with itunes and ipod. the better apps can accept a gedcom file. im going to try out the ancestry app as i just downloaded it.

Another child of JOhn and Martha's was Elizabeth B. Pettis. She married Edward Stivers. He took bounty land in Illinois due to his War of 1812 service. Her obituary lists Spencer Pettis as her brother. Pettis has been used as a middle name for many of her decendants.

Also, Broad Street Road was originally the Deep Run Turnpike which ran between Henry Street to Three Chopt Road (that intersection has been destroyed and is now Broad and John Rolfe). It's free-sort of, but you have to have an Ancestry.com membership, which is far from free. I love the App and will keep it as long as I have Ancestry.com. By the way, I am a Mac user, and use Reunion for the MAC. I would not change to Family Tree Maker under any circumstances at this point. Reunion has a great App for iPod,Phone and Pad, and Family Tree Maker has nothing.

I am also a native of Ashland, and joined Shiloh Church at an early age. I was born across the street from the present Shiloh Church. My grandfather, Benjamin Quarles, was the caretaker of the church until he died. My parents, and grandparents are buried in the Shiloh Cemetary.
