Oliver P. Hankins and Mary Susan Hockaday of Richmond

Oliver P. Hankins is somehow related to my great-great-great-grandmother, Mary Jane Hankins Pettis. Oliver gave his consent for her to marry Robert Baylor Pettis in 1850 but his relationship was not stated. If anyone knows about this family, please let me know too!

1. OLIVER P. 1 HANKINS 1 was born February 25, 1815 in James City County, Virginia 2, and died March 01, 1895 at 919 W. Marshall St., Richmond, Virginia 3. He married (1) UNKNOWN 4. She died Bef. June 24, 1839 4. He married (2) MARY SUSAN HOCKADAY 4 June 25, 1839 in Richmond, Virginia 5, daughter of JOHN F. HOCKADAY. She was born Bet. 1820 - 1821 in Charles City County, Virginia 6,7, and died October 20, 1878 in Richmond, Virginia 7.

Richmond Dispatch, March 3, 1895:
"HANKINS - Died, on Friday evening, March 1st, at thirty-five minutes past 6 o'clock, at the residence of Mr. Thomas N. Kendler, his son-in-law, No. 919 west Marshall street, Mr. O. P. HANKINS, in the 80th year of his age. The funeral will take place from Marshall Street Christian church, near Hancock street, THIS AFTERNOON at half past 3 o'clock. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend."

Oliver is buried in section A, lot 109 of Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, without a tombstone.

"Died, on Sunday morning the 20th instant, at forty minutes past 8 o'clock, after a short illness, Mrs. MARY SUSAN HANKINS, wife of Mr. O. P. Hankins, in the fifty-eighth year of her age. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Her remains were interred in Hollywood Cemetery."

Mary is buried in section A, lot 109 of Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, without a tombstone.
